Jesus raised the bar so high that attaining a right standing with God was impossible. It was never possible to prove our goodness through action. Our best efforts will always appear as dirty rags (Isaiah 64:6). (I hate to go into detail about these “dirty rags”, but it actually speaks of the...
Yokes on Me

What a love have we that Jesus gave it all so we could live. What an amazing freedom I have found in His cross. I melt at His awesome name and tears well up in my eyes when I think about His goodness. I am so undeserving, but yet He saw different. I cannot earn what He has done, nor prove through actions that I am worthy. I used to try and prove my love through actions. This doesn’t work. You see, I had taken the verse “If you love Me, you will keep My commands” and I had used it as some sort of burden to prove my love. The truth is: His love revealed compels me. All I need to do I love Christ. Yes, because the more I love Him, the...

I have been reading Ecclesiastes lately. I have never read much of Ecclesiastes before the last couple days. But before I dove into it, I had the same feelings as the writer. I am beginning to understand the waste of the things that we put importance on in life. Everything is foolishness. I...

Well, maybe snooze is not of the devil, but it was for me. I believe a miracle has happened in me. Some may think it is nothing, but I think there is no other way to explain it. In high school I had an alarm clock, but didn’t depend on it because I knew that my mom would wake me up like...
Consistency

There needs to be a show called “The Child Whisperer” in which people take their rebellious children to a counselor for advice. The show would work much the same as “The Dog Whisperer”. If you have ever watched the show (I have not, but I have heard about it) the story goes that the dog trainer often points blame at the owner for the way that the dog behaves. There is a parallel here… Much is the same when you see a child throw a temper tantrum. The parent has let the child get away with it in the past. The child will only do what they can get away with. Yes, they will try you to push the boundaries from time...
