Happy Father’s Day
Happy Father’s day to all the father’s out there. I can’t help and think how important the job of a father. I take fatherhood very seriously. I am not perfect, but I will try to be the best father that I need to be for my children. You see, I am the launching pad for them into their futures. I must make every effort to be as close of an example to God the Father than anything. I am reminded of a song that melts my heart every time that I hear it. Here is that song…
There is no better example of a father than God Himself. I got to thinking about God and some of the things that I try to do to be a good father.
Loving – No matter what they do or have done, we must always have open arms to accept them back when they want to return. God always opens His arms to accept us back when we call on His name.
Psalms 25:10 All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant.
Slow to Anger – This goes hand in hand with patience. I need to be slow to respond in anger offering plenty of mercy.
Psalms 145:8 The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in faithful love.
A person of their word – There is no better way to show God than to do what you said you will do.
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
Encourager – I believe confidence comes from the father (in most cases). I constantly tell my girls how beautiful they are and how great their coloring is…
1Thessilonians 5:11 So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
I am sure that there are more ways in which we can be better fathers. Can you think of some?
