The Currency of Time

I recently watched a futuristic movie called “In Time” where the people paid for things with time. Money was no longer a currency and everyone was guaranteed 25 years. After the person turned 25, their “clock would start”. This is much the same with real life. We are only ever guaranteed so much time. It is truly the one things that makes us all equal. Regardless of gender, age, race, education, financial or social status, our lives will all eventually come to an end. Time cannot be purchased or lengthened and once it’s spent, you can never get it back.

Time is free, but it’s priceless.
You can’t own it. but you can use it.
You can’t keep it, but you can spend it.
Once you’ve lost it, you can never get it back.
~ Harvey MacKay

It was a great movie and really got me to rethink how I spend my time. No one lays on deaths doorstep saying “I should have spent more time working or sleeping or watching tv…” Truth is, we will most likely remember the good and memorable times.

It is so easy to try and schedule time for more fun and more memorable times, but that won’t cut it because in a few months the priorities will probably shift back. What needs to happen is a shift in the way we live and our priorities. We need to see those around us as important. Our priorities MUST ALWAYS BE God, then people. If God is first, the other priorities should fall into place.

We waste time when we relinquish control. When we are in control, we invest time. Selah.

The focus can not be re-prioritizing and scheduling…
The focus can not be adding more “fun activities” to our day…
The focus can not be removing “time wasters” throughout our day…
The focus can not be attempting to invest time rather than waste…
The focus MUST ALWAYS BE CHRIST! Always.
Don't waste time--invest it

When Jesus is priority one, all others fall into line.

If you ever need some motivation in regards to “time”, watch the movie “Click“. I cry every time I see that movie.

Don’t let culture dictate where your time should be spent!!  Be in control of your time. Invest wisely. Above all else, ENJOY LIFE!
