It’s the end of the world as we know it!

It’s the end of the world as we know it! Well, not really, but for some foolish “Christian” ministry out there, it seems to be all they talk about. I drove by a billboard the other day from this ministry claiming that God is about to judge the world. That, I am ok with, however, these people claim to know the date!

Judgement Day?People have been “prophesying” the end of the world since the world began. It amazes me that they seem to know as much as God. This is the main reason or focus (as found on their website)…

“The focus is on the warning that God is sounding to the world through His Word; that He will close the door to salvation on May 21, 2011 when He returns to take his elect children to heaven and begins the day of Judgment on earth for all of those left behind until October 21, 2011 when He will destroy the world and all that is therein.”

CLOSE THE DOOR TO SALVATION?? What!! This is ridiculous. I am most annoyed because every prophesy claiming the end of the world that has come out since Jesus lived, HAS BEEN FALSE. They are making Christians look foolish. Who will believe God when all these false prophecies come out? We are still here AND on May 22, we will still be here… and 5 months later on October 21, 2011 when God “destroys the earth”, we will still be here.

These professing “Christians” are going against the Word of God.

END TIME SCRIPTURES

Matthew 24:36  Now concerning that day and hour no one knows–neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son–except the Father only.

JESUS doesn’t even know the day or time when the world will face judgement.

Mat 24:44  This is why you also must be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Mat 25:13  “Therefore be alert, because you don’t know either the day or the hour.

Rev 3:3  Remember therefore what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you are not alert, I will come like a thief, and you have no idea at what hour I will come against you.

We CANNOT know the day or hour of the coming of the Lord. It is not possible. That teaching is not biblical. It uses fear to cause people to accept Jesus. The last I read, it takes faith to believe in God, NOT fear!

I highly recommend reading “Raptureless – An Optimistic Guide to the End of the World” by Jonathan Welton. He is a theologian who has gone to great depths to study revelation and end time thinking. The book is FREE for reading or download from his website www.raptureless.com.
